CME DETAILS
According to a survey released last year by the American College of Emergency Physicians, an estimated eight out of 10 Emergency Room physicians have reported violence has increased in their hospitals, and 45% have seen an increase in the past five years. These attacks aren't isolated to emergency rooms, as healthcare workers in other settings face verbal, physical, and gun violence at higher rates than ever.

While recent legislation has increased penalties for attacking a healthcare employee, there's still much to be done. This two-hour CME will explore the roots of mass violence in healthcare settings, offer tips to prepare for potential threats in the workplace, and provide guidance on how to de-escalate an emotional conflict.
