Objectives:
After attending the activity the physician should be able to:
  1. Enhance emotional self-awareness and emotional regulation; and
  2. Develop emotional self-care strategies, particularly regarding matters of depression, loneliness and feelings of personal and professional emotional/social isolation; and
  3. Support the emotional and mental health needs of themselves and their fellow physicians to mitigate factors contributing to emotional dysregulation and mood distress.

Paul Tobin, Ph.D., Health Services Psychologist

Paul Tobin, Ph.D., is an Edmond-based licensed health services psychologist in private practice. A graduate of Oklahoma State University’s Counseling Psychology Program, he has provided mental health services and organizational consulting services for over forty years. Dr. Tobin’s primary clinical services target the emotional and social adjustment needs of adults with mood disorders and treating marriage and family problems.

Over the past five years, he has developed an enhanced practice focus on assisting Oklahoma medical professionals through consultation and treatment services for burn-out and other stress-related matters. This has been particularly enhanced during the past eighteen months regarding the impact of COVID-19 on the medical community. Dr. Tobin is the owner of a private mental health clinic in Edmond, Okla., which includes other multi-disciplined licensed mental health professionals. He is an active member of the Oklahoma Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. He also serves as a consultant to the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, along with various other leadership roles in the Oklahoma professional mental health community.
